Hurricane Melissa, a category four storm, entered Santiago de Cuba the night of Oct 29, where winds over 200 mph lifted roofs off of homes, pulled up trees by their roots, flattened electricity poles and flooded homes. As it travelled across Cuba to exit over Holguín it left a path of destruction behind. Some houses have collapsed, and due to rain pouring in, many families in Holguín have lost mattresses and clothes.
