Today, ACOP is releasing a white paper entitled A Biblical Theology of Personhood and Gender.  A white paper is not a policy document, but a report designed to inform and explain a topic, position or problem.  A Biblical Theology of Personhood and Gender paper is designed to help pastors and church leaders understand the topic of gender and gender dystopia.  Over the past few years, the topic of gender has become a subject of much discussion in our society, in the media and even in the world of sport.  Much of what we hear in the media about this topic focuses on militant and extreme positions.  This paper seeks to provide a biblical perspective on this topic.

Jesus described the people of His day as “harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”   Many pastors have discovered that people in their community are often confused and quietly struggling with gender issues.  It is our hope that this paper helps church leaders develop a thoroughly biblical perspective and a caring pastoral response.

The paper includes a helpful glossary of terms and a recommended reading list for those who want to explore this topic in depth.

If you have questions or comments about the paper, please feel free to submit them to acop@acop.ca.

Devotional

If you look closely, there are tiny signs of new life peeking through the snow. We're almost through the winter (finally!) and the buds of new leaves are starting to appear on the trees in my backyard.

This happens every year; after a long season of dreary cold, we open our door and see fresh growth and know the seasons are changing. It's comforting to think of life this way too. Walking through a difficult patch can feel impossible, especially if it's dragged on for a long time, but we can take heart in knowing the hard times won't last forever. God is always working, even if we don't see it, to bring new life into our circumstances and change our perspective. What a gift!

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." -2 Corinthians 5:17 ESV
