You receive the Holy Spirit into your heart when you put your faith in Jesus (see Galatians 4:6). Many people are interested in what the Spirit can do for them. But they often overlook one of His chief purposes—to bring Christians into unity.
"By one Spirit we were all baptized into one body" (1 Corinthians 12:13 NKJV), so although we're individual members, we "are all one in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:28 NIV). we all share in "the communion of the Holy Spirit" (2 Corinthians 13:14 NKJV).
The same Holy Spirit who dwells in your heart also dwells in the hearts of other believers, and He loves each of them as much as He loves you. This is why Christians are to love one another sincerely, and why "the members should have the same care one for another" (1 Corinthians 12:25 KJV). You are to look out for them just like you would a brother or sister.
"They were all filled with the Holy Ghost...And the multitude of them that believed were of one heart and of one soul." -Acts 4:31-32 KJV
